Summer Solstice

Summer  Solstice, Midsummer, Litha

By Tara Sutphen

21st June

“In the world’s audience hall, the simple blade of grass sits on the same carpet with the sunbeams, and the stars of midnight” – Rabindranath Tagore (Indian Poet, Playwright and Essayist, Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, 1861-1941)

Summer Solstice marks the end of the waxing year.  And the rays of the sun directly strike one of the two tropical latitude lines.  June 21 marks the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere, as  winter begins in the southern hemisphere. On this day, the earth’s “circle of luminescence” will be from the Arctic Circle to the Antarctic Circle. The equator receives twelve hours of daylight, as there will be 24 hours of daylight at the North Pole and 24 hours of darkness at the South Pole. All over the world people honor this day as an important reminder of the apex of light and to cast away evil and their problems. Northern Hemisphere inhabitants use June 21 as the day of celebration, but the splendor of light lasts from new moon to full moon.

Worshipping the Sun’s great power, all cultures celebrate in some way. Celts and Slavs dance around bonfires while Chinese marked the day honoring Li, the Goddess of Light. The celebrants of modern and ancient ceremonies tune in that life comes from the sun. It is life giving and life supporting.  We’ve recently had the good fortune to have electricity, greenhouses, and shipment suppliers. How will you celebrate? We all may not get a chance to dance around the bonfire but it’s a time to bask in the light, sit in the sun, cast our worries away and awaken to our lives.

28* Gemini New Moon

28* Gemini New Moon

By Tara Sutphen

28* Gemini New Moon (no moon – starry dark sky, the time of dreaming), culminating June 19, 2012.

This New moon is about looking into your career or job. As humans, we must develop and learn, the moment we stop emerging, we stop wakefulness. Many people are now depleted by their professions, our society casts rules. More and more regulations are made and the exhaustion level is high. We must work on renewal. Every few years it’s important to gain new knowledge and information. Those who were carried away by “too fast of plans”, lack a feeling of progress.

How do we get ourselves out of our own ruts and back on solid ground. Possibly organizing our time efficiently, curtailing wasted hours on frivolous activity or socializing. Or it could be working too many hours at a dead end job with uncaring people. There are myriad of complaints holding us from accomplishing. Of course we need to negotiate until we steer ourselves into our next option. To prevail, we all must give and take, take and give. A sense of balance is the key. If vocational restructuring or guidance is needed, going back to school or taking a class or two might resolve our struggle. Conversing with a friend, mentor or professional, maybe they will see something you don’t.  Any remarkable skill requires time and exertion.  Start meeting yourself at least halfway.

We get nowhere with ideas locked in our head. How many times have you heard someone say…”oh, I thought of that gadget or idea, but look someone else invented it, making millions”. The innovator moved their body to complete the idea. They didn’t know what to do or where to go to carry the invention out, they just began to ask questions, initiating a means to discovery.  No one knows exactly where life will be taking them, we just lay down tracks to move our train.

“Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose – not the one you began with perhaps, but one you’ll be glad to remember.” ~ Anne Sullivan (American teacher , 1866-1936)

Full Strawberry Moon & Partial Eclipse

Full Strawberry Moon

By Tara Sutphen

Full Strawberry Moon (Native American)at 14* Sagittarius will culminate June 4, 4:12 A.M. Pacific/7:12 A.M. Eastern (Almanac).

The Full Strawberry Moon and partial eclipse, where we’re being nudged gently to give up what holds us back. Many incidents in the past create a mental and karmic link and we go round and round in our minds trying to figure out how to escape turmoil. We are living up to either our dashed expectations or our goals and intent. Many are struggling every moment of every day with an issue or another and so much anxiety. Why are so many people riveted in uncertainty. Over the centuries were people always this way. Or in our modern society have we become influenced by each other. The worries of each individual, health problems, emotional ills, the job anxiety, money sabotaging, restlessness, outrage, entitlement, apathy, exhaustion, the list goes on, do we carry those fears or do we stand up to them. Reviewing our beliefs is a first step to liberation of misgivings, the second step is to act accordingly and release. As looking back and blaming everyone and everything for fault and failure is not constructive living. Needed is elucidation. Specific people, the government and circumstances will naturally bring us to situations that need to be handled. This is life.

We play our lives as best or as worst as we can. We walk around in a dream, designing what happens by our actions and reactions. Oh we may not like what takes place randomly day in and day out. Entrenching us emotionally or physically, we find ourselves either in the quagmire or the palace. Living up to our choices and how we respond to circumstances and events. We are so lucky to have options, we don’t always remember that fact though. Thankfully if we back up a little and free our judgments, we can work at alleviating predicaments. The unease may have begun with parents, siblings, teachers, lovers, spouses, children, employers, bureaucratic leaders, but it will end with our self. As much as we want to control time, we really do have a different life experience and planet stopover than others. As we recognize this, we can view opportunities. Stepping away from difficulty and as calmly as possible reintegrate what best works on a daily basis. And if we take a moment to offer others understanding and benevolence, it will surely extend our way as well. We’re not supposed to be struggling all the time, we’re really intended to be enjoying our life, like the people we know, benefit from our relatives and family, relish work, attach value to experiences. All the heartache and the suffering are lessons to teach us to survive. We were born to live…

The Moon Ritual Meditation & Sleep Programming

Although you would ideally do this meditation outTrack beneath the full moon, you can also experience it by imagining the moon and four directions as you are surrounded with magical energy … a rainbow of light. In the Goddess’ name, you open to the light. You can actually stand up and raise your palms to the sky or imagine this process of being energized and rejuvenated. Facing North you ask for solutions to your problems and experience many blessings. Facing East you seek solutions and prosperity while trusting yourself to make the right choices. Following many blessings, you turn to the South and ask for increased self-esteem and harmonious relationships with the people in your life. After the blessings, you turn to the West to face your destiny and ultimate potentials. Open your mind and release your courage. The ritual ends with the moon as your guiding light on the shadowed path. It illuminates your dreams as you walk steadfast and proceed on your earthly journey with an open heart. Track 2: A beautiful sleep programming version of the ritual. Listen as your cross over into sleep and explore the four directions into your dreams.

Full Flower Moon

By Tara Sutphen

Full Flower Moon (Native American)at 16* Scorpio will culminate May 5, 8:36 P.M. Pacific/11:36 P.M. Eastern (Almanac).

The Full Flower Moon is about recognizing what blocks you in your health and psyche. Deep within we want to find the answers to unblock our aspirations and motives.  What vista can we climb to see our way. We can feel lost in the day to day grind. What is it we really are supposed to do on earth. What is, with having to rethink every move we formulate. Some people seem to effortlessly move into situations, events, groups and success easily. Why does it seem that way. When you question them on their journey, they usually say it’s been hard and they struggle with decisions too. Maybe they make better choices… And why does life throw us off balance as many give up or simply go in circles, performing the same patterns and making similar mistakes. What makes us realize when we’ve had enough and need change. Where is the magic key to flourishing.  By what chance have you given yourself to thrive. It’s a notion that something must be unlocked, unblocked, let go to get us to a next stage of learning or reaching.  Why can’t we see it. Where’s the flashing red or green light. Why isn’t it always easy.

We know we want to accomplish “something”, but most of the time it’s elusive. Is it supposed to be one objective and five intentions, a sprinkle of purpose and ten brownie points of meaning. Meaning has a strong pull in making sense of life. Intentions are positive, they can help with taking greater control. Objectives can change as it’s a continuous progress of research and decision making. Purpose is a big order and most often what that means is nonfigurative, as purpose is an intention with a lofty order. Many place it with the significance of their life’s goals, though purpose is not self sacrifice. You can be fulfilled and facilitate, making a difference in others lives without forfeiting your life. There are many levels of helping others and our selves. If working on a global level seems farfetched then we are slated to work toward family, friends and/or community. All self help, all matters of importance start in the home. Even when the life is disruptive or maddening with the initial family, this can point to not needing a certain amount of permission needed to accomplish future goals or “purpose”. Politics, Religions, Work Ethic, Career and/or Lifestyle preferences need a certain amount of approval of others or complete disapproval. Disapproval in youth sparks either insolence or audacity. There are days, years, and many lifetimes that we could dissect our thoughts and psyche, the most important things will be on the last day of this life.  That our lives meant something, who we loved, who we helped, who we laughed with, who we cried with. The soul knows what the soul wants. The mind knows what the mind wants. The emotions know what the emotions want. The body knows what the body wants. We can figure it out , we can be well and flourish…

The worst things we can tell ourselves is I don’t care, I can’t do it, and I’m so afraid. Inherently entrenched within is our survival skills and instincts and when we harbor self doubt and feelings of being lost we can get bewildered and disorientated. There is no need to panic, it takes five minutes to reframe and reorganize your thoughts and direction. Yes, five minutes and whether we live five minutes or 150 years, we are to truly live and love. We are to have a plentiful varied life. And when we keep our health in order and our minds stimulated in the positive search for effect and outcomes we are able to cope easier in the everyday realm.

“Rest enough for the individual man, too much and too soon, and we call it death. But for man, no rest and no ending. He must go on, conquest beyond conquest. First this little planet and all its winds and ways, and then all the laws of mind and matter that restrain him. Then the planets about him, and, at last, out across immensities to the stars. And when he has conquered all the deep space, and all the mysteries of time, still he will be beginning.”~ H. G. Wells quotes (English Novelist, Journalist, Sociologist and Historian. Full Pink Moon

Full Pink Moon

By Tara Sutphen

Full Pink Moon (Native American) at 17* Libra will culminate April 06, 2012 12:20pm pdt / 3:20am edt (almanac).

This Full Pink Moon is about stepping into our best companionable and comfortable self. What is it that we are trying to achieve when truly being an individual. We think of ourselves as a solid being. When we Like, we Like. When we Love, we Love. When we Learn, we Learn. And when we are unsure of others motives and tactics, we can be cautious and disappointed. When do we trust others, or is it to trust our self. If you risk and love, you can say you took a chance at life and the offerings. We should cast our bold selves running forth through the wind, thinking by chance we will meet people who are in line with our destiny. As we don’t seem to know how we come to be around the people we are related or acquainted with…those strangers who happen to come into our lives and private worlds.

We are all visitors and guests on earth. Initially, we are attracted or brought together through like-minded and synchronistic circumstances. Repeatedly, we admire others sensibilities and gracious ways, and wonder what conduct and character traits we possess and how we are “seen”. Where are we considered exceptional and special. Isn’t it within us to try and treat those chosen to be our friends, lovers, colleagues, family and admirers in the best possible way. Often we want to, but do we. Due to our conditioning and programming, we set forth our agenda on how we behave toward others and how they indulge us. We either step in to be accepted or misunderstand. And we will reason many times in our lives, why we feel the need to be liked or loved.

We’re to remember the divine light shines within all beings, even when we think we are alone and forsaken. We can be so unsure of ourselves. Needing a boost of awareness and others kindness. Are we conditional with our expectations or can we learn to be unconditional. When do we need to stick up for ourselves, or step away from negative situations. The road signs teach us to take a turn at the crossroad. We can learn the pertinent cues of purpose and pleasure. And the more we coordinate and know when to hang on and when to let go. Knowing we’re in a test. How we pass or fail. For to learn the ways of communication, meaning and love is a process and not everyone we care about or for will be with us throughout our journey. The target of our objectives and goals should be to gain merit, respect and appreciate whose thoughtfulness touch us.

We will expect people to come and go in our lives. There are frivolous days of people throughout our social schedules and events. There will be unusual people who try to block every move and create havoc. And there are those fascinating, that we can’t hold on to. There will be some people who lock us in some kind of dismal grip, and be hard to get rid of. And there are those that can’t get rid of us. And when it’s time to let go of people, we will need to grant our sweet friends and family a life they need to live. Many will never look back, no matter if you think they should. You will want joy for all, and some will not know how to find it. We all can’t live for another, but we can love. There will be the extraordinary ones, those so special in our hearts we will never be prepared to let them go. The soul’s dearest to us, this sentiment is the one we search for…

“To be rich in admiration and free from envy, to rejoice greatly in the good of others, to love with such generosity of heart that your love is still a dear possession in absence or unkindness – these are the gifts which money cannot buy” ~Robert Louis Stevenson (Scottish Essayist, Poet and Author of fiction and travel books, 1850-1894)

Happy Spring – March 21

Happy Spring — 21st March

Spring Equinox marks the mid-point of the Waxing Year, the nights and days are balanced once again; the time when Kore, (Persephone) was believed to have returned from the Underworld where she had ruled throughout the Winter. The spark of light, born at Winter Solstice has reached maturity, and from here onwards, the days progressively grow longer than the nights. Western culture proclaims this the first day of Spring.

Older traditions called the Spring Equinox, Ostara; the time of the festivals of the Grecian Goddess, Eostre, and the Germanic Ostara, both fertility Goddesses of Dawn. These influenced the naming of the modern-day Easter Holiday. New greenery bursts forth from sleeping seeds in the countryside, as metaphorically, pagans also plant their own seeds for future goals, future projects and growth at this time.

Decorated eggs, being symbols of fertility are symbolic of Ostara. In days gone, Europeans gave gifts of decorated eggs to new brides, in the hope that they would bear many children. Similarly, bowls filled with eggs were given to farm workers by the farmer’s wife, to ensure a rich harvest. Most all cultures see the egg as a symbol of Life; the actual home of the Soul. In Russia, decorated eggs are still given as gifts to loved ones and buried in graves to ensure rebirth.

The women gathered the eggs only from hens which were around a rooster and decorated them, allowing no one to watch them work as they transferred the goodness of the household to the designs on the eggs, thus keeping evil away. Dyes were mixed to secret family recipes and special blessings placed on each egg.

The Spring Equinox defines the season where Spring reaches it’s peak, with the powers of light increasing. The God of Light, (Llew), now gains victory over his twin, the God of Darkness. Llew was reborn at the Winter Solstice and is now old and strong enough to vanquish his rival twin and mate with his Mother Goddess. The great Mother Goddess, who returned to her Virgin aspect at Imbolc, welcomes the young Sun God’s attentions and conceives a child. The child will be born nine months from now, at the next Winter Solstice, when the cycle closes, only to begin anew.

Here are some of the colours used on Ostara Eggs, and their meanings:

White:
Purity

Yellow:
Wisdom, a successful Harvest, or Spirituality

Green:
Spring, rebirth, wealth, youth, growth, happiness

Blue:
Good health, clear skies

Orange:
Power endurance, ambition,courage

Red:
Happiness, hope, passion, nobility, bravery, enthusiasm, love

Brown:
Enrichment, good harvest, happiness

Purple:
Faith, trust, power

Pink:
Success, friendship, love

Black:
Remembrance

The custom of eating Hot Cross Buns also has pagan origins. The Saxons ate buns that were marked with a cross in honour of Eostre; ancient Greeks consumed these types of buns in their celebrations of Artemis, Goddess of the hunt, and the Egyptians ate a similar cake in their worship of the Goddess Isis.

There are conflicting ideas as to what the cross symbol represents. One suggestion is that it is a Christianisation of horn symbols that were stamped on cakes to represent an ox, which used to be sacrificed at the time of the Spring Equinox. Another theory relates to Moon worship; the bun representing the full Moon, and the cross, its four quarters. Christianity gave new meanings to the symbolism of the buns, saying the cross represented the Crucifixion Cross. Thus, superstitions arose crediting these buns as being charms against evil, so after Good Friday, people would save one or two of them to hang in their homes as amulets. During the festival season and indeed, for a long time afterwards, fishermen would carry these Easter buns in their boats, for protection.

The Easter Bunny is another symbol which has obvious links to fertility, rebirth, and the abundance of life which is evident in Spring.

According to myth, Eostre was a playful Goddess whose reign over the earth began in Sring when the Sun King journeyed across the sky in his chariot, bringing the end of Wnter. Eostre came down to Earth then, appearing as a beautiful maiden with a basket of bright colorful eggs. Eostre’s magical companion was a rabbit who accompanied her as she brought new life to dying plants and flowers by hiding the eggs in the fields.

Full Fish Moon

Full Fish Moon
By Tara Sutphen

Full Fish Moon (Colonial American) at 18* Virgo will culminate March 08, 2012 1:40am pst/ 4:40am est (almanac).

This Full Fish Moon is about looking deeper within our inate nature, the psyche, one’s motives and justification. Some people make life look effortless, all their affairs perfectly handled, taking care of their minds and bodies with ease. Is it an illusion or reality. Everyone has their own set of problems and burdens, what may look like an easy life may be a wild toad ride. But it’s not about them, it’s about you. You are not to find yourself in chaos and confusion, eluding love or love eluding you, being disgruntled with people or money being an inconvenience. Everyone has down trodden moments and thoughts from time to time, but roused or revived people look within to see what is needed to create a smooth daily life, fixing and maintaining the wayward moments. It’s only takes a few minutes to stop and calm down and look like we’re having an effortless life too.

You are good at many things and you should write those down. The simplest tasks sometimes are the greatest. Such as being a good listener or knowing when to give hugs and/or sentiments. You know who has mattered and why they matter. It usually doesn’t involve money. There is a knowing, and if we can stay clear of needing to repeat our mistakes we can take steps toward growth. Understanding doesn’t sometime come overnight, but it does eventually sink in. How do we change. There can be clarification when wrestling with intellectual concepts, and an ability to use knowledge and resourcefulness to actualize speech and forward movement. I don’t know if that is something we learn at an early age, as many are confused at what steps truly accomplish ones goals. We know that we can become aware and stay in the know-how. The mind blending thoughts into ideas, starting, continuance, triumph, then moving toward a conclusion sooner or later.

Are you aware what you could be creating for yourself, good or bad. Our world is supreme and omni-potent, we must be a part of the energy, matchless and not fighting the natural course. There is fine line between illusion and disillusion, so we must stay with our plans, hopes and dreams emerging strong from any adversity.

“Walking your talk is a great way to motivate yourself. No one likes to live a lie. Be honest with yourself, and you will find the motivation to do what you advise others to do.” ~Vince Poscente – Olympic Champion

Standing Before The Moon Ritual

Standing Before
The Moon Ritual Meditation & Sleep Programming
