Full Snow Moon

By Tara Sutphen

The Full Snow Moon (Native American) at 3* Virgo will culminate, February 22, 2016 10:20am PsT/1:20pm EsT (Farmers Almanac). The current phase of the moon is a Full Moon (99.8% illuminated), 14.4 days old and at a distance of 396669 Km (246478 Miles)

The first few months of this year during the moon time is directing us to discuss what we need and want. Communication is key, last month we we’re creating and this month we are to be stabilizing. Your health is to come back into balance. Your career is supposed to go in a forward direction. Talking and sharing researched tidbits with friends and family. Listening to their ideas are also important at this time. All full moon phases every month guide you to come back to yourself, but since the beginning of the year – you are to create interchange with others, sharing your theories and observations. You are to slow down long enough to enjoy this exchange. You don’t have to be involved in inane deliverances, and at the same time you are to remember to have patience. Remember you are to be learning as well as sharing, health ideas and subjects on security, money, how to keep it, what’s your best strategy, etc. What are you overlooking in yourself. Are you in a job you like. Or is it your energy level and figuring out your health and vitality. It’s time to figure out what you need while talking and listening to others. You are to be socializing to gain more insight. You may not physically move on your findings right away, but you’re creating a plan. This month communications with others are gateways instead of stalemates. Be open, listen, and share your wisdom and be willing to implement new ideas.

-Learning to socialize to those around you is important. We can’t be in a party or laughing mood all the time. Not that humor can’t lead us toward enrichment. We have to gain a steady dose of serious along with fun. We can’t all be counselors or money experts, but we can be a solid family member or friend who takes time to listen, observe and give small antidotes or solutions. To jump into a boat with someone who doesn’t have a direction isn’t what we’re talking about…be gentle and understanding offering advice. And tap into your confidence, you have a mind and a voice, you can start using it to clear your way.

—– “The great secret of succeeding in conversation is to admire little, to hear much; always to distrust our own reason, and sometimes that of our friends; never to pretend to wit, but to make that of others appear as much as possibly we can; to hearken” ~Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790 American Statesman, Scientist, Inventor)

Happy Full Christmas Moon

Full Christmas Moon

By Tara Sutphen

The Full Christmas Moon (Native American) at 3* Cancer will culminate, December 25, 2015 3:11PdT/6:11pm EdT (Farmers Almanac).

This Cancer Full Moon is celebrated this year on the Holiday Christmas. There will not be another full moon on Christmas until 2034. The meaning of this moon is all about expressing yourself in the best possible way. Making an effort to be sincere. There are many times we are asked to awaken to our lives. And how appropriate for this full moon to be on a major world holiday where we are thrown together with family, friends and strangers. The Moon is your personal spotlight and shines down to help create good faith. Some of us resist and don’t want to participate. But this year the coast is clear. That’s if we step into our better selves and create some good karma. I don’t think spilling our guts might be the answer on a festive full moon. But the people who are meaningful for you, make sure to speak up and share a moment. Life is comprised of many such opportunities and it’s important to say what we mean and mean what we say. As there is an old adage and truth, we won’t pass this way again.

If we all started to appreciate the experiences in our lives, instead of being bored or too self-absorbed, we might release our personal suffering. Just remember to ask questions. Queries take the pressure from you having to answer. Get those conversations going and memories made. In the olden days the old folks could be square, well…”don’t be square”. The subject isn’t important, be honorable or listen on a deeper level. Quelling the loneliness of another or sharing a sentiment. Making others happy leads to our own happiness. And if we don’t have anyone around on the holiday, make yourself your own best company. Cook, read a book or watch movies, just be at your best. And if you’re in the dumps over losing loved ones, they want your happiness, rest assured they would revel in your new memories. We have to learn to live, every moment counts. And this Full Moon reminds us: Love our lives, love the people in our lives. Grant yourself permission to do the best you can…in any situation. Greeting others and letting ourselves be noticed as part of the memory.

Winter Solstice & Yule – DEC 21

Winter Solstice & Yule

By Tara Sutphen

Dec 21: The Winter Solstice is a celebration of the heart, vessel of our dreams. Through the darkest time on the planet we are to find solace once again, returning to our inner resting place. Gallantly gazing upon our life’s daily uncertainty and unknowing future. May the earth fold us in comfort away from any harshness. As the light dims we are to harmonize and begin to sincerely replenish our hearts and minds. The pagans called this holiday Yule, where the people of Europe and Scandinavia made festive. It is not considered religious. The pagans were naturalists, such as the Native Americans and other indigenous communities around the world. They followed the course of the sun, the moon and cycles of the seasons for planting food and generally planning survival strategy. As winter comes we recognize our need to rest our minds, hearts and bodies while warming at the hearth. And as we come back out of the darkest day-night of the year and begin to gain more minutes of sunlight and replenishment each day. We linger for a glimmer of light to awaken, reconnecting our spark to life, to the sun and the conviviality of our own beating heart.

Friday the 13th Facts

Friday the 13th Facts

Here are a few fun facts of Friday the 13th to get you in the mood that it’s a good day:

o   The US Seal has 13 stars, bars, feathers in the eagle’s tail, 13 bars in one claw, 13 olive branches in the other.

o   The Chinese, Pagans and others in ancient times marked time by the lunar cycle and calendar, thus 13 was considered a very lucky number.

o   Egyptian philosophy believes life is a mission for the eternal afterlife. This journey walks through 13 levels, the first 12 in this life, at death the 13th level. The number 13 symbolizes death as glorious and attaining “real life”. But you must go through the 12 stages first.

o   Fear of Friday the 13th is called Triskaidekaphobia.

o   The fear of Friday the 13th started as a Norse Myth where 12 gods were having a party in Valhalla (Heaven) and capricious Loki came as the 13th guest and arranged for Hoder the Blind to shoot Baider the Beautiful with a mistletoe tipped arrow where he died and the earth grew dark.
