We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Sutphen, and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tara, we’d love to hear what makes you happy. Tara: Looking inside to be cheerful. Even when I’m not sure of what that looks like, as happiness is a work in progress of fleeting feelings. Life is about presence, being genuine, and authentic. So many people struggle with shyness, lack of confidence, and fear. I love hypnotherapy as it bolsters the spirit, eases the mind, and sparks the body into activation. I use my psychic and hypnotherapist abilities to offer solutions. There is always a way out. My inner happiness may not always be giddy, but I’m deeply content; my path came early… to help others is my calling. Oh, and, deep happiness for me too… is to love horses, I do horse therapy too.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans, and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work. Tara: I could say it wasn’t a planned career, but every person I’ve met and all the events I’ve experienced are predestined. I faced many trials on my journey, which gave me a great depth of empathy and understanding. I am content and fulfilled with my purpose. I have always combined hypnotherapy and psychic ability together with my clients, students, and seminar groups.
At merely six weeks old, I danced with death, a fragile infant caught in a 7 1/2 hour surgery, given last rites, and not expected to survive. The NDE I had gave me an awareness that would guide me. As a baby and toddler, I was very aware of everyone’s issues and feelings. At eight years old, I was hemorrhaging and moved onto the operating table just as I had the last gasp, experiencing the euphoria and white light and having conversations with Ethereal beings. Yet another close call further deepened my awareness of mortality. It was during these moments that my psychic abilities emerged even further, leading me to connections with shaman, priests, and holy humans. They recognized in me as a kindred spirit, a vessel of untapped potential, and approached me easily. When I was young, I thought everyone experienced this…my world has been filled with “the seers”.
Raised in diverse environments, from the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area to the serene landscapes of Alaska, my upbringing was infused with a rich tapestry of cultural influences. The deep connection to nature, my horses, and the spiritual realm is evident in my practices, as I incorporate elements of shamanism and mysticism into my sessions.
I found that the combination of hypnotherapy and psychic intuition created a powerful synergy. Hypnotherapy allowed clients to access their subconscious, uncovering hidden fears and traumas, while my psychic abilities offered insights that transcended the conventional therapeutic boundaries. When I first ventured into the realm of hypnotherapy, it was with a sense of curiosity and purpose. I began to psychically connect using my innate divination skills. I sought to delve deeper into the subconscious of the querent. The practice of Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience, and Automatic-Writing became bridges, allowing me to channel insights and messages that emerged during in-depth trance sessions. In this sacred space, clients would often relive their past traumas, uncover fragments of past lives, or past experiences of this life, where they sought my perceptions in each session. I’d uncover hidden layers of their issues while they were under hypnosis. I would be looking for solutions and seeking direction for their issues and problems. My experiences fostered a profound understanding of life, death, and the unseen forces that bind us all. This unique journey has not only shaped my career but has also sculpted my philosophy toward healing and self-discovery.
My purpose has crystallized into a mission of healing, understanding, and growth. The trials I faced—each near-death experience, each moment of vulnerability—have become my greatest teachers, guiding me to serve others with compassion and insight.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?Tara Exploring the Soul of Los Angeles with Friends!
When welcoming a friend to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, I always aim to craft an experience that is as refreshing as it is fulfilling. Upon picking them up at the airport, my first stop is always “Cafe Gratitude” in Venice, known for its nourishing, plant-based dishes that leave you feeling energized and inspired. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for rekindling our friendship after a long flight. As they head off to bed I give the a Nuskin rejuvenating and hydration face mask to use.
After a restful night, before coffee, I offer them a Lifewave X39 patch, to stimulate light wavelengths which help activate stem cells. I then love to introduce my friends to the healing power of horses. We head to the most serene location, my barn, where I offer horse therapy, allowing them to connect with these magnificent creatures. Whether it’s on a massage table or engaging in shamanic exercises, this experience is transformative and grounding. Following our equine adventures, we unwind with infused herbal teas at The Healing Tree in Thousand Oaks, a cozy spot that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation.
As the sun sets, it’s time to indulge in the culinary richness of LA. The city is a treasure trove of Mexican cuisine, and I often recommend Sabor in Valencia for a delightful dinner. The ambiance is enchanting, and the flavors are authentic, making it an unforgettable dining experience. Other favorite evening spots include The Odyssey in Granada Hills, where you can enjoy stunning views alongside delicious meals, and Cafe Habana in Malibu, known for its vibrant atmosphere and flavorful dishes.
For a touch of elegance, Gracias Madre in Beverly Hills offers a unique twist on traditional Mexican food, featuring organic and locally sourced ingredients. If my friends are in the mood for a romantic setting, Tra di Noi in Malibu is a must-visit, combining Italian flair.
During their visit, I also love to explore the natural beauty of the area. We stroll through the Huntington Gardens, a serene escape filled with lush landscapes and diverse plant collections, or visit the Lake Shrine, a peaceful spot ideal for meditation and reflection. And of course, no trip to LA would be complete without a wander along the beautiful beaches, where the sound of the waves provides a perfect backdrop for heartfelt conversations. Gallery’s, movies, plays and events are a must in the city as well.
Lastly, I often set up a session at my treatment room for some hypnotherapy from me, allowing my friend to unwind and explore the depths of their consciousness in a supportive environment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?“Born Again to Be Together” is a heartfelt testament to the profound connections and unwavering support that shape our lives. Central to this narrative is Cynthia Hudson, the inspiring owner of Aspiring Magazine, whose encouragement ignites a flame of creativity not just within me but in countless other Angelenos. Her friendship acts as a beacon, guiding us to produce work that not only inspires but also aspires us to reach new heights.
The bonds I share with my best friends, Carmen Anderson and Marla Maples, are woven through decades of unwavering support and soul-deep connections. Each shared laugh, tear, and triumph adds layers to our friendship, making it a sanctuary where we can be our true selves. I often reflect on how fortunate I am to have collected such incredible individuals in my life. They are the very essence of humanity—kind, encouraging, and relentlessly uplifting.
Family plays an equally significant role in this tapestry of love and support. My family—William, Hunter, Cheyenne, and Everest—stand by me like pillars, offering strength and reassurance. The love from my brothers, Scott and Jason, my sister Amy, and our dear mother, Marianne, is an unwavering force that reminds me that no matter the challenges we face, love is always the answer.
This narrative isn’t merely about the people who surround me; it’s a celebration of the community we build together—a community that thrives on encouragement, camaraderie, and the shared belief that we can achieve greatness when we uplift one another. In a world that often feels chaotic, these relationships remind me that love and support can conquer all, and together, we can rise and aspire to be even more.
In my book “Soul Writers,” I have woven the essence of my friendship with Jess Stearn into a tapestry of shared wisdom and exploration. Jess was not just a friend; he was a kindred spirit, a beacon of light in my life, and our decades-long friendship.
Jess Stearn (April 27, 1914 – March 27, 2002) was an American journalist and author of more than thirty books, nine of which were bestsellers. We met in Hollywood at an Italian restaurant where people came to sing “opera”. The Lords of Fate clapped that day. Jess soon introduced me to my future husband, whom I married on his deck overlooking the ocean in Malibu. Each baby I had, he was present with the family in the waiting room. But he was especially tickled when I had a baby on his birthday! All holidays and everyday life was filled with camaraderie.
As we navigated topics like the power of intention, the significance of dreams, and the potential of human consciousness, I felt an exhilarating sense of awakening. He taught me that the boundaries of reality were often self-imposed, and that the exploration of metaphysics and the paranormal was not just an intellectual pursuit but a deeply personal journey toward understanding oneself and the universe.
As the years passed and my own work began to unfold, I started to realize how profoundly our paths had intertwined. Coincidentally, my research and pursuits began to mirror some of his own. The themes we once discussed—reincarnation, the nature of consciousness, and the exploration of psychic phenomena—found their way into my professional life. I found myself writing, teaching, and sharing insights that echoed the very ideas we had passionately debated on those warm evenings filled with laughter, wonder and lots of orange juice and/or my home cooking..
The experience of automatic writing has been both humbling and exhilarating. It is as if Jess, in his new form, is still passionately exploring the very questions that once consumed him. Each session feels like a dialogue with his spirit, as if we are continuing the conversations we once had, albeit on a different plane of existence. The messages that emerge are often profound, shedding light on the nature of the soul, the continuity of consciousness, and the interconnectedness of all beings. He challenged me to think critically and to embrace a unique voice, reminding me that every story is worth telling.
The Full Sturgeon Moon (Native American) at 17* Aquarius will culminate, on August 9, 2025, 12:55 AM PST/3:55 PM EST (Farmers Almanac).
This Full Sturgeon Moon is about being Devoted. Not to a cause, but rather those you love or feel deeply. You may daydream on who your best friend is or who your heart loves and why. Those why’s may not add up to your standards. it’s not about finding perfection in life, its about finding the kindred spirits who spark our life in a perfectionistic way. Whether we are taken off our path or placed solidly on one and pushed forward; you know deep inside what is right, who is right and if you must… wait patiently for the right people to show up.
When you were a child, what did your inner best friend look like? Did anyone spark you deep devotion and loyalty? Who sparked it when you were older? Has your best friends and loved ones continued to be the sparks and the deep fire of life in your heart? And if its dimmed, where is the devotion in you? How do you keep it all alive…just as you keep you body alive…
Practicing an inner dialog with your younger self, allows you to progress into who you would like to become. It’s not about what happened in the past, it’s only about concentrating on the future. It’s about jumping from your childhood to a new starting point. A fresh standpoint is where you begin believing in yourself and your dreams. Visions of a potential you. You always have enough time to begin a changed aspect of yourself. Or to reach a cherished goal on your bucket list.
Reacting positively toward yourself, allows you to create situations of trust and calmness. People seldom gather their thoughts and wits in disappointment. Allow yourself to stop to listen and learn. The Full Strawberry Moon (Native American) at 20* Sagittarius will culminate on June 10, 2025, at 12:44 am PDT/ June 11, 2025, at 3:44 am EDT (Farmers Almanac). This Full Strawberry Moon is about opening your perspective on the world view. You may have become narrow-minded or stuck in your ways, especially in how you make money and create a secure life for yourself and your loved ones. When your focus becomes broader, you still stay constructively within your personal power. It’s not about becoming adventurous per se; it is deepening the confidence in how to make money. And where to live and gain knowledge. Instead of following the routine so strategically, you’ve maybe forgotten how to have fun and expand your potential. Breathe deeply again. That’s it, remind yourself to breathe. Find your sacred space within your auric field and begin to think in magic. Knowing how to use skills and tools to help yourself achieve the next steps or goals. They can be career moves or personal ones, as you can positively influence yourself for the better. Thinking good thoughts can be the first step to rebalancing your personal power, but moving your body in a proactive, considerate way is by far more beneficial.
There are times when feeling ineffective, meek, or mired in indecision. Confusion can leave you disoriented and directionless, but taking a baby step and beginning to work past struggles can help you out of any dilemma.
Here are a few tips:
Identify the issue, but don’t dwell
Be kind to yourself
Meditate at least 5-20 minutes a day…and a couple times a day if you need to recenter. Meditation should consist of not concentrating on anything. If you don’t have a meditation practice, metaphorically: visualize or feel a golden light orb between your hands, healing you and giving you more life-force energy.
Mindfulness: exercising your mind to stay in the present state, give yourself permission to be hopeful, helpful, and make wise choices.
Listen to mind-programming, hypnosis MP3s, if you are stubborn
Get outside and get some air…maybe exercise or dance to music
Change your viewpoint, change your outlook, change your hopeless view to a hopeful panorama
Create a checklist of goals you want to accomplish, about yourself, about your attitude, about your health, about ways to make money, and about accomplishing goals
9. Be Consistent, Be Loyal, Be Reliable, Be Trustworthy – it doesn’t matter that others are not those traits, it matters that you are!
10. Make an effort, and progress will happen
When you actively move towards becoming knowledgeable or successful, you allow your life to flow in the direction of fulfillment. Move forward now, as the past is already gone. Decisions are to be made in your future. Allow yourself to start making good-to-great choices.

When you’re going through bumpy times, it’s best to become aware of them. Proceed toward refocusing on the positives in your life and not the negatives. We can become disillusioned by people, especially when they show acts of unkindness. But that is on them.
You know when you’re being unkind to yourself. We can all be very far from where we think we should be emotionally or energetically. We can base values outside ourselves, instead of working on what creates our inner wholeness. We are given many shamanic and natural signs, where we are asked to turn away from dissension and negativity, and step toward our brighter futures, where we are getting into the practice of getting better and better.

_____Encouragement is useful. Reassuring another person of the effort they make, not only makes them feel validated but it also makes you feel satisfied. No matter who thinks they act alone on the planet is not telling the truth to themselves. The farmer created food for you to eat and there were contractors to build your house. Let alone all the workers creating electronic equipment, entertainment devices, and cookware. Sewing you clothes and making your soaps, creating medicines and vitamins. We aren’t lone wolves, no matter what. Activate your abilities and strong skills, you have the ability to create the life you long for…
——“Real, constructive mental power lies in the creative thought that shapes your destiny, and your hour-by-hour mental conduct produces power for change in your life. Develop a train of thought on which to ride. The nobility of your life as well as your happiness depends upon the direction in which that train of thought is going.” – Laurence J. Peter
What can Hypnosis, Hypnothesia, and Meditation do for you?
Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness. You are put at ease while receiving beneficial suggestions in a relaxed condition. You will always act on your morality and principles, You never have to worry about having your mind taken over as you have core beliefs and stay within those parameters. You may not feel knocked out or overly suggestible, but you can relax deeply and renew your body, mind, and spirit through this practice.
Change can be hard, but hypnosis lends itself to leading our minds in productive and affirmative directions. Instead of our mind fighting the body. Hypnosis is always a good antidote and it is enjoyable and very refreshing.
What are the different levels of brainwaves?
Gamma: concentration
Beta: Active, Alert
Low Beta 12-15Hz
Quiet Focus
Mid-Range Beta 15-20Hz
Energy Performance
High Beta 18-40HZ
Stress, Anxiety, Arousal
Alpha: Relaxed, Passive
Theta: Deeply Relaxed, Inward Focus
Delta: Sleep
Hypnosis isn’t so much a trance as it is a state of ultra-calm, you feel a bit dazed by the outside world as your focus ability and concentration come into effect. You sometimes feel like you’ve found something you have lost. If nothing else the deep sense of relaxation and concentration ability. In a session, you hear only the hypnotist’s voice and you are compelled to follow along. You come into a vivid mind and your inner clarity can release or analyze issues, feelings, and/or events.
The Levels of Hypnosis
Novice – Light hypnosis. You may need to acquire the know-how. You may not feel like your hypnotized but if you see your hypnotherapist regularly or record and listen to your hypnosis sessions, you will notice outward changes. These can be good changes, such as breaking bad habits (smoking or losing weight) When you learn to trust your mind more, you can work on harder tasks. (Success, Accelerated Learning, etc)

Hypnothesia:
Hypnothesia is an easy way to get to your desired goal. There is no homework involved. The suggestions are given while you are in a mild state of anesthesia by a medical doctor, a trained MD Anesthesiologist. Tara, then instructs you to receive your consideration list that she has carefully prepared with you. They are a list of your very own suggestions. This is what I call the fast fix. It could be to help overcome your trauma, drama and failed efforts.
Sometimes it gets hard to achieve desired personal and outwardly successful results because your inner compass stalls or takes your will power into a negative direction. Food addictions, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, boredom, unhappiness and depression all lead to a sluggish lifestyle. Sometimes it’s the opposite of slow, and many find themselves chasing their dreams in the wrong directions and being hyperactive and over-reactive.
Hypnothesia is a new brain-mind technique where we override your conscious mind to get to your deeper self, addressing directly your blocks or issues, suggestions can be made into your subconscious mind; allowing a more positive and productive approach to your desires and goals. Example: If you want to quit smoking, I’ve found the client dreams of smoking but they put out the cigarette in their dreams, never desiring another cigarette after their session.
If you want to eat, sleep, or overcome a problem properly. You can get on track with your health, and strength in mind and body easily in this way. Maybe you’ll find that Hypnothesia will be the answer for you.
Meditation:
When in meditation you can find yourself daydreaming. Try to guide your thoughts into positive scenes and outcomes. And the best is to come back to your silence and inner peacefulness. If you are full of anxiety or frustration, you are to set those feelings aside and come back to your center. The real you. The human that God Loves no matter what…Hypnosis and Meditation are safe and enjoyable experiences.

The Full Flower Moon (Native American) at 2* Sagittarius will culminate, on May 23, 2024, 6:53 am PDT/9:53 am EDT (Farmers Almanac).
This Full Flower Moon is about compromising with collaborators through professional or personal relationships. This could be learning from others as well. It’s the alignment of minds. Use your intellect and wisdom to create ideas that have an opportunity to come to fruition. Implementing how to join forces with friends, co-workers, and family, using skills and tools to help yourself and others achieve the next steps or goals. Whether it is a career move or a personal one, positively influencing others to make progress. There is a proactive and considerate way towards beneficial outcomes.
This is not the time to feel ineffective, meek, or unmotivated; as others are set in place to help through struggles. Whether through listening to common sense, polishing your skill set, or being open to your elder’s/mentors’ suggestions. Throughout this month, stop to listen often, take notes, and proceed effectively.

Relationships, friendships, and work can become less uncomplicated with shared enthusiasm. Patience is a virtue, especially when listening to others’ wisdom and expertise. We learn how to achieve together in tandem. A lovely heart begins with ourselves and extends toward the goodwill of others. Trusting our intuition is a big component. Not everyone has your best interests at heart. But you can; by having the best intentions for others. It is important to live our truth… our progress is to regain our livelihood every day. It is a part of our fate and purpose to be the best we can be.
